OUR CARE TEAM
Kirsten Buzzell | MA, LMFT, LADC
Specialties:
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist as well as a licensed alcohol and drug counselor. I completed my graduate coursework using an integrated, co-occurring framework (mental health and substance use), obtaining an MA in psychotherapy at Adler Graduate School. My heart is for clients to find self-agency and empowerment by discovering an authentic identity and gaining insight into the self. One of my main goals in working with clients is helping them to recognize and harness the power of choice.
I am trained in Individual Adlerian Psychology, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, EMDR, and MI. My interactions with clients are guided by a family systems lens, helping clients understand the impact of life events across the life cycle. I use a person-centered approach, meeting clients exactly where they are in any given process and working with them to create movement toward their goals. I believe awareness is a critical part of any therapeutic work, and I help clients increase awareness by developing insight into motivations and core beliefs. I am also trained in inner healing techniques of Immanuel Approach and SOZO prayer ministry; I will readily integrate faith into sessions when this is desired by clients.
I serve children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families working through the struggles of anxiety, depression, personality disorders, behavioral issues, trauma, addiction, recovery, identity, and relational difficulty. I am experienced in working with complex trauma and dissociative disorders resulting from a variety of experiences. I feel honored to gain the trust and hear stories of clients with whom I am privileged to work. My desire is to help clients find meaningful connection, experience transformative healing, and discover hope within their unique story.
